Get to the Point

The University of Chicago's Graduate School of Business has decided to require prospective students to submit PowerPoint slides with their applications for admission this year. As a reader of thousands of professional school applications I understand and sympathize with the admissions readers' struggle to stave off boredom. And the effectiveness of PowerPoint presentations in conveying complex ideas and inspiring engaged participation has long been known. See, for example, this breathtaking classic. Or this heartbreaking one. I can think of no better way to capture the essence of the ideal Chicago MBA than 4 PowerPoint slides.
